Laylight + Slack

What Laylight reads

Messages, threads and shared files in the channels you connect, along with channel names, membership and timestamps.

Access is read-only and scoped to what you connect. Laylight does not write to, modify or delete anything in Slack.

What it adds to your context

People, teams, customers, projects and the decisions made about them. A thread stops being a wall of messages and becomes a dated record of who raised something, what was agreed and what was left open.

How it works

You authorise Slack through its own OAuth flow and choose which channels Laylight may index. As messages arrive, Laylight resolves the names, links and mentions inside them against the entities it already knows about, so a customer discussed in one channel is understood to be the same customer named in a document or a ticket elsewhere. Ordering is preserved, so the most recent statement about a thing wins over an earlier contradicting one.

Because Laylight resolves entities across every connected system, a Slack answer is not limited to Slack. The same customer, project or person referred to here is understood to be the same one referred to in the other systems you connect, so an answer drawn from Slack can be cross-checked against the document, ticket or thread elsewhere that describes the same thing.

What you will be able to ask

• What was decided about this project, and in which thread?
• Who last discussed this customer, and when?
• What has changed since the last time this came up?
• Was this concern ever actually resolved, or did the thread just stop?

Each answer names the Slack record it came from, with its timestamp, so you can open the source and check it rather than taking the summary on trust.

How the connection is authorised

You connect Slack through its own OAuth flow and choose the scope Laylight may index. Laylight never receives your Slack password, stores its access token encrypted, and loses access the moment you revoke the connection. See Security for the full detail.
