Laylight + Outlook

Connect Outlook to Laylight and the context inside it becomes answerable, with a citation back to the Outlook record every answer came from.

What Laylight reads

Mail in the mailboxes you connect: subjects, bodies, participants and dates.

Access is read-only and scoped to what you connect. Laylight does not write to, modify or delete anything in Outlook.

What it adds to your context

External context. Counterparties, commitments and the agreements that were made over email and never written down anywhere else.

How it works

You authorise the mailboxes you choose through Microsoft OAuth. Participants are resolved into people and organisations, so a thread with a customer is connected to that same customer wherever else they appear. Email is often the only place a commitment exists in writing, which makes it a high-value and correspondingly sensitive source. Scope it narrowly, and see the security page for how the content is handled.

Because Laylight resolves entities across every connected system, a Outlook answer is not limited to Outlook. The same customer, project or person referred to here is understood to be the same one referred to in the other systems you connect, so an answer drawn from Outlook can be cross-checked against the document, ticket or thread elsewhere that describes the same thing.

What you will be able to ask

  • What did we tell this customer, and when?
  • Who is the counterparty contact on this thread?
  • What was agreed over email that never made it into a document?
  • Have we already answered this question for someone else?

Each answer names the Outlook record it came from, with its timestamp, so you can open the source and check it rather than taking the summary on trust.

How the connection is authorised

You connect Outlook through its own OAuth flow and choose the scope Laylight may index. Laylight never receives your Outlook password, stores its access token encrypted, and loses access the moment you revoke the connection. See Security for the full detail.
