Integration
Laylight + GitHub
Connect GitHub to Laylight and the context inside it becomes answerable, with a citation back to the GitHub record every answer came from.
What Laylight reads
Repository metadata, pull requests, issues, review comments and commit history for the repositories you connect.
Access is read-only and scoped to what you connect. Laylight does not write to, modify or delete anything in GitHub.
What it adds to your context
Repositories, services, owners, issues and releases, plus the chain that links a line of code to the pull request that changed it, the issue that motivated it and the person who approved it.
How it works
You install Laylight against the repositories you choose. It reads the pull request and issue graph rather than only file contents, so a change carries its justification with it: which issue it closes, who reviewed it and what the discussion said. Commit history supplies chronology, which is what lets Laylight answer questions about when something changed and what state the codebase was in beforehand.
Because Laylight resolves entities across every connected system, a GitHub answer is not limited to GitHub. The same customer, project or person referred to here is understood to be the same one referred to in the other systems you connect, so an answer drawn from GitHub can be cross-checked against the document, ticket or thread elsewhere that describes the same thing.
What you will be able to ask
- Why was this change made, and which issue does it close?
- Who owns this part of the codebase?
- What shipped in the last two weeks?
- Has this bug been reported before, and what happened to it?
Each answer names the GitHub record it came from, with its timestamp, so you can open the source and check it rather than taking the summary on trust.
How the connection is authorised
You connect GitHub through its own OAuth flow and choose the scope Laylight may index. Laylight never receives your GitHub password, stores its access token encrypted, and loses access the moment you revoke the connection. See Security for the full detail.
Availability
Laylight is pre-launch and connectors are rolling out to waitlist customers. Join the waitlist to get access to the GitHub integration, or see all integrations.
